Electrical Installation
Condition Report
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a periodic inspection report that ensures the safety of your property or commercial premises, regarding electrical provision. This could be on your home, a business or a property you are renting out.
An EICR is recommended in all domestic homes every 10 years and every 5 years for commercial businesses, and to check the condition of the electrical installation and ensure there is no deterioration, however there may be reasons why an EICR would need to be done more often.
Whilst there is no legal requirement to have an EICR carried out in any situation, an EICR provides peace of mind that a home / business is electrically safe and they are not expensive to carry out.
During an EICR, the electrician will look at various points in their inspection such as, damage or wear and tear, the adequacy of the main earthing and bonding(s), any exposed live wires that could cause a fire or injury, any damaged electrical fittings and accessories such as lighting fixtures, switches and sockets.
